Trends We Have Our Eye on For Spring 2015

Spring is just around the corner, so we came up with a list of our favourite Spring trends for this year.  We'll also be using this list to guide us with curating merchandise for this season, so hop by if you're looking to stay on trend!

1. 1970's Revival

We're kicking the list off with a throwback to the 70s. Fringe, suede and miniskirts have been all over the runway this season. Designers from Louis Vuitton to Tory Burch are cutting fringes and trimming suede into all types of dresses, coats and bags. Think about incorporating the trend in the form of swingy A-line skirts, texture, boho vibes, and high-waisted flared pants.

2. The Cold Shoulder

Show a little skin this Spring with cut-out shoulder details on all types of dresses and tops. There are various kinds of cut-outs to suit your style. We love how the  90-degree and off the shoulder looks from the runways evoke a sense of boldness, sexiness and a little of the unexpected.

3. Safari Chic

A functional and fashionable element this spring is the utilitarian inspired safari chic. Brands like Ralph Lauren and Acne are turning utilitarian wear into upscale classic American fashion. These will make great outerwear pieces for any occasion AND protect you from the unpredictable  elements. Think canvas, large pockets and all things camel and army green.

4. Denim Luxe

It's always interesting to see the new rendition of the classics. For Spring 2015, Stella McCartney, Burberry and the Alexa Chung for AG Jeans collections all constructed beautiful denim pieces. Additions like embroidery, gold buttons and hardware, and unexpected cuts made denim stand out this year. If you're taking baby steps into this trend, we greatly suggest opting for a beautifully cut denim dress.

5. Graphic Floral Prints

You didn't think we'd miss floral on the list for Spring trends did you? This year's floral is all about oversized and more graphic prints which gives it a fresh twist for 2015. From Michael Kors to Celine, these prints show simpler, but more striking colour stories than previous years with an added graphic element.

6. Tranquility Now

We couldn’t help but notice a very relaxed and tranquil vibe from many designers this season but The Row in particular left a special place in our hearts. How could we mention spring without that incredible collection that made us want to layer up in the looses, gauziest pieces we could get our hands on. Think of interpreting this in the form of oversized but still pristinely cut pieces or going the boho route with ethereal flowing pieces.

7. Clean & Classic Footwear

When it comes to footwear, may we suggest going the classic route. Nothing looks better this spring than fresh kicks, no matter what you pair them with. As a bonus, it doesn't look like the sneaker trend is going anywhere either so rest assured, your feet can be stylish and super comfy. If you're looking for something slightly dressier, we recommend a pair of super modern loafers.

8. Statement Sandals

Another style of footwear is the lace up sandals and platforms for Spring. A lot of interesting lace ups and heel wraparounds graced the runway this season as well as bolder chunky platforms. Whatever your preference for sandals, we say, make it a bold one!

9. Gingham

Simple and bold gingham prints covered the runway for many collections including Oscar de la Renta and DVF. Gingham this season is clean, graceful, and feminine with tons of interpretations for Spring. We love how playful, feminine and effortless gingham feel this Spring in tops, skirts and flowy maxi dresses.

10. Monochrome White

Designers like Victoria Beckham and Isabel Marant chose to go with a clean canvas of monochrome whites, letting their details, silhouettes, cuts tell the story. Crisp, clean, but never basic, think of interpreting the all white look in the way of a jumpsuit or tailored pieces with unexpected details.
