Fall/Winter 2015 Trends - What We are Looking For

The Fall season is fast approaching and that means changes for our closets! From the runway to street style, there's a lot of exciting things happening in fashion at the moment. Want to sell to us? Here's our top 10 trends that we are looking for this season and can't wait to get fully stocked in!

1. Luxury Knits

Isn't that the best part of Fall and Winter anyways? Curling up with a cup of tea and your coziest sweater. Gorgeous chunky knits in cashmere and wool blends are a staple and something we love to carry for this season and this year is no exception. Look to classic styles in crew necks as well as drapey cape-like shapes as well.

2. Duster Coats

It was hard to find a collection for this Fall/Winter season that didn't feature a long coat so we expect to be seeing a lot more of them everywhere! From Chloe to Dior, the coats came in classic shapes but exaggerated lengths for optimal warmth and extra chic-ness.

3. Knee High Boots

Blame the 60's and 70's trends that have not yet left the scene for these bad boys. Knee length and over the knee boots will soon become one of your most turned to foot wear choices for the season ahead, not that we don't still love a good pair of ankle booties! Pair them with flowey dresses or a structured A-line skirt and you'll see why these boots were made for walkin'.

4. Patchwork

The latest iteration of the 70's trend came in the form of patchwork prints. This one isn't for the faint of heart, with brands like Etro and Chloe showing large patchwork pieces that evoked all kind of nostalgia and fun.

5. Maxi Slip Dresses

This season proves that Maxi dresses aren't just for summer anymore. Layering up your thin long silk slip dresses with tights and boots for evening and a chunky sweater thrown over the top for day make this piece super versatile and modern for this season.

6. Wide Leg Trousers

This summer we had the rise of the culotte and it seems that the roomier leg silhouette isn't going anywhere for the fall. The tailored styles make the perfect statement while still being super versatile. Pair with a simple T shirt or layered up with other tailored separates for a super chic office look.

7. Small Bag, Big Impact

Birkins, Phantoms, and Keepalls may have a permanent place in our bag-loving hearts but this season it's hard to deny the power of small bags. Chloe, Celine, and Hermes have all introduced smaller crossbody styles that are quickly becoming the go-to bags for the most stylish ladies. We're all for it, give your shoulder a break this season and opt for something that packs a big punch in style but not in size.

8. Fun faux Fur

Expect this season to be one where FUN is definitely being injected to furry pieces. Think technicolour clutches, oversized coats (a la Band of Outsiders) and anything fuzzy. We like to think of it as an easy way to have fun with your wardrobe this season, especially with your accessories if you're easing your way in.

9. 80's Revival

Olivier Rousteng, and J.W. Anderson may be two of the main purveyors of this trend with shows from both Balmain and Loewe respectively showing collections that echoed a time where over the top shoulder pads and pleated pants reigned supreme. Isabel Marant had her own take on the trend, showcasing skin tight bottoms with oversized jackets for that certain 'let's-get-physical' vibe.

10. Sparkle and Shine

Dressing for winter also means holidays and holiday parties! This year, why not make a statement with some inspiration from Temperley's fluid gold floor length dress or a little metallic a la as seen at Balmain.

Like every season, we buy based on style more than anything else. We hope these general trends help inspire you for the season ahead! Of course we will always be looking for amazing staple pieces and if you ever have any questions do not hesitate to drop us a line! Have something that you think we should take a look at? Bring it in on any Wednesday, Friday or Saturday and we would be happy to take a look. Read more about how we work, HERE!
