Laurie's Mother's Day Edit

Our love for fashion often stems from our mothers, as our earliest memories of playing dress-up usually involve exploring our mom's closets! Join us in honouring the stylish mother of our owner, Laurie Watkins. Discover her personal style and shop her favourite pieces. Additionally, 10% of proceeds from her curated collection will be donated to the MOM Foundation.

Moms Offering More (MOM) is a community-driven initiative with support from the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation, bringing together like-minded women dedicated to supporting historically underserved youth and families.

How would you describe your personal style?

I think my personal style has always been dressy casual, now with a minimalist look. I’m loving a monochromatic outfit.

In the past I took a lot of inspiration from Vogue. Now I like to think I have my style down to an art form. I know what I like and what looks good on me. I do love walking through all of the boutiques, just to see what the designers have done to a classic black pair of pants.

Did you and Courtney share a closet growing up?

No Courtney and I didn’t share a closet, but maybe she liked the idea of how I displayed my favourite items. I always had a shoe wall and now all of her stores have those fabulous purse walls!

One of the items on my shoe wall display was a pair of Louis Vuitton kitten heel shoes. When Courtney was about 15 she decided to borrow them unbeknownst to me. Little did she know she would be going to a bonfire in a gravel pit. She came home and placed those little babies back on my shelf.

Let’s just say it’s a mother’s sixth sense. I don’t know why but when I came home I went straight to those shoes only to find the high polished heel so scratched up. Lucky Louis Vuitton was able to repair them & I still have them. I guess it’s a compliment, because to this day Courtney is still borrowing items from my closet

"My mom and I have always bonded over a love of clothes and shopping. Most of our mother daughter trips were based around fashion like traveling to Seattle to check out brands that weren't available in Canada, hello Abercrombie & Fitch! My favourite fashion memories were around our summer trips to West Edmonton Mall, where just the two of us would ride the motorcycle there and then shop!

I tried to share her wardrobe, but lets just say I'm a little harder on my things than she is so it definitely takes some convincing"
