Style Snaps Vol. 6 - Spring is Springin'
Ahhhh.. March in Vancouver! The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the rain has been holding off, and Vancouverites are eagerly swapping their winter duds for fresh spring picks. I'm always the most inspired in Spring time. The blooming blossoms adorning the city scape always spurs a sense of hope and motivation that is unparalleled, and this year has been no different! Elizabeth and I knew we had to capture this flowery moment before it was too late. And what better way than with a Style Snap?
We looked to our Spring trend board for inspiration for this look. The 70's are back in a big way- nearly every runway boasted inspiration from the decade and we incorporated that easy 70's vibe into the styling of this outfit.
For the top we chose a preppy but fun blue and white Zara Trufalic shirt ($25). With it's rounded collar and pastel colourblocking, it perfectly sets the tone for days surrounded by flowers- whether at work or play. We combined the shirt with a white mini skirt (EX-J DIRTY BAND, $35) with a graphic mesh overlay creating a very 70's silhouette.
The bold choices made with the texture of the white mini and the graphic lines of the tote (Gucci, $275 ) grounded this outfit and made it relevant to 2015, and something like this tote gives the wearer a place to put freshly picked flowers, the freshest issue of Vogue, and whatever hobbies Spring has inspire upon them.
Sunnies are also an important part of a burgeoning spring ensemble. Elizabeth is wearing YSL round gray sunglasses ($180), in combo with this Aritzia straw fedora ($25). Nothing says easy spring days like a straw hat!
To keep it laid back, we finished the outfit with this pair of pointy-toed Marc Jacobs Mary Jane flats. (Size 8, $125) We also took a little inspiration from Jigme's shoot with Eyoälha and let the joy of spring, well, spring!
