DIOR'S HAUTE COUTURE FALL 2020 SHOW
Dior unveiled their Fall 2020 Haute Couture collection in a thoughtful and moving online presentation. With Couture Week moved to an all-digital format many were curious as to how creative directors would convey the magic of fashion shows to an exclusively online audience.
The 37 piece collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by Surrealist artists such as; Dora Maar, Lee Miller and Jacqueline Lamba. Dior introduced their first online presentation by releasing a short film directed by Matteo Garrone.
In addition to launching the short film, Dior also miniaturized each piece on small mannequins carefully arranged in a trunk, fashioned to emulate Dior's Montaigne Headquarters. The poetic sillhouettes, detailed drapings and exquisite fabrics all scaled down without compromising the initial designs. An innovative way for the collection to travel the world, instead of the world travelling to see them in Couture Week.

Straight out of a fairytale. The intentionally frayed edges and the tiers spilling over like an overflowing cup of tea. We love how delicate this silk gauze ball gown looks but, we can appreciate the hidden boned bodice and voluminous underskirt that makes the shape come to life.

Honouring the work of the atelier, this dress could not be overlooked. The dramatic volume is created in such a way that still looks light as air. We can't help, but completely swoon over the delicate fabrics used in this collection.

Look 37 from Dior's latest Haute Couture collection was inspired by Surrealist artist Dorothea Tanning. Each ruffle added in individually and two different kinds of pleating allow this piece to have a show-stopping shape. This evening coat will be remembered for its architectural excellence long after this year's Couture Week has been presented.
